No, this, certainly, was not the plan: to share excitement about starting a blog then, disappear. I apologise and promise to do better. In fact, I'll go on and promise one blog post (at least) every month. 🙏
Not to give excuses, but some part of the problem was deciding what direction to go in; what to talk about. Now, I've decided to just write as me, Martha, the girl (now woman) with the dreams - my journey with Akara Café.
To begin, here is a silly photo of me, and the story of how the idea for Akara Café came about. 😊
So, my friend had come up with an idea for us to sell dinner experiences, which came from our flair for hosting dinners. But after our individual surveys, we learned that our model wasn't quite sustainable, so we went back to thinking.
Randomly, it struck me that I'd never seen Akara in Abuja. Whereas, growing up in Calabar, women hawked Akara every morning. And so it begun. I would go on to discover street corners where Akara was sold at night, then I thought, 'what if we made this "cooler"; had it available all day... make it as global as samosas, for example.'
The seed was planted. 😊
Until next time...
Peace & Love,
Martha Rrazi
